Northern Virginia
Alexandria City
The City of Alexandria is located on the west bank of the Potomac River six
miles south of Washington, DC and nine miles north of Mount Vernon, George
Washington’s home. Alexandria, which is almost 50 years older than the City of
Washington, is one of America's most historic communities. The area is about 16
square miles and home to more than 130,000 residents.
Arlington County
This area of land formerly known as Alexandria County of the District of
Columbia was returned to the Commonwealth of Virginia in 1846. Alexandria and
Arlington separated in 1870 and in 1920 the name Arlington County was adopted.
Today this 26 square mile urban area of land is home to just under 200,000
residents.
Fairfax County
Once a rural area dotted with farms, Fairfax County in the 21st century is a
growing metropolis with a thriving technology industry. With its 300 parks,
proximity to the nation’s capital and a host of historic homes, Fairfax County
offers visitors a unique experience. It is the most populous county in Virginia
and now has the highest per capita income of any county in the United States.
Maryland
Montgomery County
Montgomery County is not only Maryland’s most populous county, it is also the
most affluent. It’s encompasses an area of just under 500 square miles with a
variety of terrain. It is now home to more than 900,000 residents.
Prince George’s County
Bordering Washington DC to the east and also just 37 miles to the south of
Baltimore is the 500 square mile area of Prince Georges County. The county as
has an urban atmosphere yet still manages to provide a scenic and peaceful place
to live for more than 800,000 residents.
Washington, DC
Welcome to Washington, DC, our Nation’s Capital and the most powerful city in
the world. Although only 67 square miles and home to just 572,000 residents in
DC proper, the DC metro area is home to over 5 million people, making it the
eighth largest metropolitan area in the US.
